FRENCH TWISTS ADD FLAVOR TO ARIZONA’S BUSINESS LANDSCAPE
Barry’s Bakery Opens New 65,000 square foot Manufacturing Plant in Arizona

Phoenix, AZ- (XXX XX, 2005) -- Barry’s Bakery, the manufacturer of the tasty French Twists snack treats, is celebrating the opening of a brand new 65,000 square foot manufacturing facility. The new plant, located in Tolleson, Arizona, is a state of the art facility that provides specially developed equipment and more space, allowing the Company to increase their production and expand their product offerings. After looking at numerous sites across the country and in Mexico, Barry’s Bakery chose Arizona because of the plentiful and skilled labor force and because of the ongoing support and assistance from the city of Tolleson, before during and after their move.

“The assistance we received from the city of Tolleson was instrumental in our decision to move our plant to Arizona. They assisted Barry’s Bakery with setting up the plant, everything right down to assisting us with permits. They were very proactive in helping us get our new facility up and running,” said Josh Yellen, Vice President of Barry’s Bakery.

The new plant will be manufacturing Barry’s Bakery French Twists, the company’s flagship product, as well as some new products that the company will soon be introducing. Previously, the company has been producing their product in four separate, smaller locations in the San Diego, California. Their new plant has allowed them to consolidate all their production facilities as well as their operations divisions under one roof.
“The City of Tolleson has the philosophy that any good business that is friendly to the environment and positive for the community should be up and running as soon as possible. In business, time is money and we believe in cutting through the red tape. We want to bring good businesses to our community and we want them to have a positive experience. We believe in helping them quickly move through the process and get them up and running as quickly as possible. We are very happy to welcome Barry’s Bakery to our community and are pleased that they have had a great experience,” said City of Tolleson Mayor, Adolfo Gamez.

"Our new Arizona facility is one of the largest and most technologically advanced plants in the state,” said Yellen. “The focal point of the operation is the special equipment that was exclusively developed for our unique processing requirements. We are extremely proud of the results.”

Barry’s Bakery was recently acknowledged by the prestigious American Institute of Baking, who visited the facility in February of 2005 and awarded it with the coveted Superior ranking, the highest rating available. In order to achieve this ranking, a bakery must showcase excellence in all aspects of operations from process control to documentation.

In addition to the manufacturing plant the company has increased staff. Barry’s Bakery Human Resource team is enhancing employee training and development programs, which include classes on dough lamination, HAACP, English as a Second Language and management courses.

“We are very happy to welcome our new employees into the Barry’s Bakery family. Our growth is a great indicator of the overall success of our flagship products,” said Yellen. “We believe that quality assurance begins with a strong and dedicated team and we are committed to creating a working environment that fosters growth through education and employee participation.”

Barry’s Bakery has come a long way. The Company got its start in 1989 when founder, Barry Yellen, had numerous health issues that didn’t allow him to eat the sweets he craved. Starting in his garage, he developed the Barry’s Bakery line of French Twists. The Company quickly grew out of the garage, and has become a family business with both sons, Gavin and Josh, working to make the Company an even greater success. “We feel our Arizona facility will help us further elevate the brand and allow us to continue to provide healthy and delicious foods,” concludes Yellen.

JOSH YELLEN NAMED VICE PRESIDENT FOR BARRY’S BAKERY

(San Diego, California – April XX, 2004) Barry’s Bakery, the maker of French Twists Snacks, has just announced that Josh Yellen has joined the company. Josh has been named Vice President and will oversee distribution for the company, servicing the over 10,000 stores that sell their product, marketing, legal and new product introductions. Josh joins Barry Yellen, his father and founder of Barry’s Bakery and his brother Gavin who is president of the company in this family business.

Before joining Barry’s Bakery in his official capacity, Josh Yellen attended law school, but always had the goal of joining the business. “Barry’s Bakery has always been part of my life, and it had always been my intention to join Barry and Gavin in our family business. My entire family is entrepreneurs, so I’ve learned from the best,” said Yellen.

Barry’s Bakery recently moved from four small manufacturing plants, to a 65,000 square plant to better accommodate the increase in product distribution as well as develop new product.

The Company has seen significant growth since it began in 1989. Founder Barry Yellen started the company after he had several bypass surgeries and a kidney transplant (son Gavin was the kidney donor). Because of these health issues the lifelong sweet lover was forced to change his diet, and found that there were no healthy snacks available to quench his yearning for sweets. After trial and error, Barry’s Bakery French Twists were borne and manufactured in a makeshift facility, the family garage. Increased product requests required a move to a manufacturing facility and today, the company has a 65,000 facility and an expanding product line.

Barry’s Bakery French Twists are a light, cinnamony, sweet snack treat that contains no cholesterol, eggs, butter and yeast. Each French Twist contains only 60 calories and is low in fat, making them a slim 1-point on the Weight Watchers point program. They are available in flavors like Original, Chocolate Chip, Maple French Toast, Almond, Café Mocha, Wild Raspberry and Key Lime.

“French Twists are our flagship product and it has been amazing to see the product demand continue to increase, but we’ve got some other products that we are equally excited about, and I hope that I will play a major role in making our new products just as successful as the French Twists,” concludes Yellen.
