Our Favorite Diet-Friendly Chocolate Treat
LIGHT BITES
At just 1 calorie each, Mini Peaks by Barry's Bakery (available in vanilla and chocolate) certainly qualify as diet friendly. A mix of sugar, salt, cream of tartar and egg whites, they're an airy treat that practically "melt in your mouth" as the package promises. Though they're a little too lightweight to be a really satisfying and indulgent dessert, if you're counting calories, even a whole bag of these doesn't add up to much.

The Dallas Morning News - July 22, 2005

Barry's Bakery packs a lot of food trends into a tiny cup of its Mini Peaks meringue cookies.

There's portion control: A package contains 100 cookies at 1 calorie apiece. And all that with no fat or dairy, in a cup-holder-friendly container.

Barry's is already well known among the diet crowd for its no-cholesterol French Twists. We found the Mini-Peaks in chocolate and vanilla flavors on the bread aisle at Wal-Mart Supercenter, near the packaged baked goods.

Barry's Bakery products are widely available; you can also order the Twists online at Amazon.com.

French Twists Provide Dairy-Free, Cholesterol-Free Snack
If you're looking for a flavorful treat that will fit with just about any eating plan, try French Twists by Las Vegas based Barry's Bakery. French Twists are a sweet, crunchy, "cinnamony" snack made from layers of puff pastry.

"In flavors like Original, Chocolate Chip, Maple French Toast, California Almond, Cafe Mocha, Wild Raspberry, and Key Lime, we think you'll agree they provide just great taste," says founder and president Barry Yellen.

French Twists are sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon before being hand-twisted and baked. Each French Twist contains only 60 calories and is low in fat, making them a slim one point on the Weight Watchers point program. Because they contain no dairy, cholesterol, butter, or eggs, French Twists are a great snack for those who are lactose-intolerant and those watching their cholesterol with a heart-healthy diet. French Twists are a light, crispy smack that is more healthful alternative to many snacks currently on the market. French Twists are also certified Kosher Pareve.

"French Twists are the perfect anytime treat," says Yellen. "They are a natural with morning coffee and crumbled on top of yogurt and are a tasty midday snack or an instant light dessert at the end of the meal."
